And later today…

inothernews:

…Cardinal Timothy Dolan of the Archdiocese of New York, who is thought by some to have a decent chance of becoming the first American pope, and whose charm and wit and guile the Catholic Church counts on to help shepherd through their message in the media, will refuse to discuss how he used to pay off priests who raped children, but will gladly sermonize on Sunday about how President Obama shouldn’t force the Church to provide contraception for their female employees.  Because God’s not okay with birth control but turns the other cheek when it comes to clergy-involved child sex abuse.

Message to the leadership of the Catholic Church from a Catholic: what in the name of fuck is wrong with you?  Why are you silent on this matter?  Why won’t Cardinal Dolan, who’s so affable and jokey and he makes me laugh with some smartass remarks to the media, LOL, answer a question about why, as one victims’ advocate put it, “an employee (is) given a cash bonus for raping and sexually assaulting children”?

And hey, Catholics (just some Catholics, right?  Right, we’re going to hear about this from plenty of them tomorrow, Catholics who are outraged about this, just OUTRAGED!): when are you going to stand up to this, the same way you’re so vocal when it comes to a woman’s right to healthcare?  Or do you need to be able to cite a specific verse in the Bible where God or Jesus or the Apostles say that IT ISN’T THE FUCK OKAY THAT ARCHBISHOPS ARE SENDING OFF CHILD RAPIST PRIESTS WITH CHECKS FOR $20,000 IN THEIR POCKETS?  What’s that you say?  You claim to have found the biblical verse that says men shouldn’t have sex with other men and want to focus on that instead?  Okay, got it.

Commence getting mad at me instead of actually answering the question, as per usual.

Relating to Dean as much as I do, I kind of get why he said this. I don’t think it’s because he doesn’t consider Cas a friend. He wouldn’t have carried around that trenchcoat for 6 months if he didn’t. He cares about Cas and he loves Cas. Whether you see that platonic or not, that’s your choice. But you can’t deny that he does care about Cas a lot. And what he just witnessed was the last person he had outside of Sam take Lucifer into himself. And that’s not something Dean can fix. Cas said before he shifted Sam’s suffering to himself that he couldn’t fix it. If Cas couldn’t fix the wall, no one they know can. So that’s what Dean’s feeling right now. Helpless and bitter and cynical. He can’t fix Cas. He just lost Cas to a problem much bigger than of them. He just found him and just got him back and he’s gone again. Cas is stuck in a mental hospital with Lucifer torturing him and there’s nothing he or Sam can do about it. And if you look at both of their faces, you can kind of see that pain there. But it’s a hell of a lot harder to admit that Cas is being tortured day in and day out by his own brother than it is to say their friends are all dead. Denial is a lot easier than acceptance and that’s always the Dean Winchester way.
